The Journey Within

In a world that focuses too much on outward appearances and end results, I advocate for a return to…

the within life.

I don’t know about you, but I love the fact that God loves us enough to not leave us as we are!

Because God loves us, we should also know that he is committed to our growth, our maturity, our becoming more like Jesus.

God’s Word urges followers of Jesus not to bear some fruit, or more fruit, but rather, we are to bear much fruit!

“By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.” John 15:8 (ESV)

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” John 12:24 (ESV)

The JourneyWithin involves the inward, heart-shaping activity of God in a person’s life by placing an emphasis on what God is doing in us – not so much what he is doing through us.

As I have moved in and out of various life-transitions Jesus has taught me to pay attention to the condition of my heart…“For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.” Matthew 12:34 (ESV)

Because we belong to God, we should also know that he is committed to helping us become a people who looks, eats, smells, acts, breaths, loves, serves, but mostly THINKS like him in all aspects of life.

“For those whom He foreknew,  He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son…” Romans 8:28-30

God cares more about our heart (within) than he does our actions (without); but our actions (without) also reveal the condition of our heart (within).

“As a man/woman thinks in his/her heart….so is he/she.” Proverbs 23:7

As a wife, I hope to write about the ways in which my intimacy with God enhances my primary role in life – the WifeWithin.

As a mom, I will share how God has ‘parented’ me and helped me parent my eight children. Although I am an empty nester now, he continues to develop the MotherWithin.

As a woman placed in ministry leadership roles, I will discuss leadership lessons I have learned regarding the LeaderWithin.

As a friend, I’ve learned to appreciate the blessing of true friendships; I am more than blessed. Because of them and my friendship with God, I have learned how to become a genuine FriendWithin.

As a curious creative, I’ll share creative people and ideas with you in an effort to celebrate the unique talent of the ArtistWithin.

And as a child of God, I will share how my Father has taught me to value my place in the Kingdom of God as he matures me and the DiscipleWithin.

My hope is to encourage my readers to press on toward a mature faith in Christ so that we become active participates with God in his redemptive work in the world.

It is my prayer that we allow God the freedom to make us more and more like Jesus…

from the inside out!
